The National Transfusion Service (NTS) of the Slovak Republic has prepared a new blood donation certificate for blood donors. The goal is to make it easier for them to communicate with their employer and health insurance companies when claiming benefits related to donating blood. TASR was informed about this by NTS marketing and communication director Martina Frigová.

New confirmation

“From May 6, the collection offices of the National Transfusion Service of the Slovak Republic issue a confirmation at the donor’s request, in which the donor will have a clear indication of what action was performed on him at the collection office. Whether it will be a donation of whole blood, a donation of blood plasma or another blood component, and also if the blood donor was only examined at the workplace and the collection itself did not take place,” zoomed in.

She added that if the donor needs a longer time to recover after collection, the doctor of the collection office will also indicate this on the confirmation.

Anyone who is 18 to 60 years old, weighs at least 50 kilograms and meets the basic health requirements can become a blood donor. Men can donate blood every three months and women every four months. All current guidelines for donating blood can be found on the website www.ntssr.sk.
