Asonahores expresses disagreement with the US after crime alert in the DR

Santo Domingo, RD.- The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) issued a statement expressing its disagreement with the alert issued by the United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic. He condemned that it called on its citizens to be careful when traveling to the country, after an increase in crime.

The Association was surprised by the alert. He affirmed that there is no evidence of recent criminal acts in the tourist areas of the country.

He explained that the Dominican territory is one of the safest tourist destinations in the region. He asked the embassy to rectify the alarm.

Asonahores does not share the criteria of the United States, which has raised the alert on crime in the Dominican Republic, since in recent months no event has been evidenced in our tourist poles that motivates such action.

The union stated that “This alert has surprised you”because the Dominican Republic continues to be one of the safest tourist destinations in the region.

He stressed that taking into account the number of events for every 100,000 foreign visitors, the country continues to meet security standards.
