Ban on pesticides in Brussels private gardens from 2025 World news

The decree approved on Thursday, as well as two previously approved decrees, guarantee that the use of dangerous pesticides will be prohibited in private gardens and private green spaces in the Brussels Region from 2025. This may include, for example, company gardens or sports fields.

Pesticides: France will abandon the measurement indicator currently used, which was defended by environmentalists

This obligation will apply from 2030 for farmers and market gardeners, who will thus have more time to adapt their practices. According to Alain Maron, private green spaces cover a third of the green surface of the Brussels Region.

Furthermore, from 2025 also, the sale of pesticides will be regulated in the Brussels Region. Dangerous pesticides will be available only on request, as cigarettes already are. Stores that sell pesticides must also have an advisor to inform users about the risks of the products as well as the restrictions on use.

These three decrees are now subject to the opinion of the Council of State.
