World news

The representatives of Poland failed in the team competition in the C1 canoe slalom competition at the 3rd European Games. The men’s and women’s teams finished off the podium.

The battle for medals in the teams started in the afternoon. Earlier, on the Kolna track in Krakow, slalomists fought individually for promotion to the semi-finals in the C1 competition. We write more about it HERE.

In the team, the white-and-reds composed of Grzegorz Hedwig, Kacper Sztuba and Michał Wiercioch scored four penalty points and took seventh place with the time of 112.03 seconds.

The gold went to the German team (Anton Franz, Sideris Tasiadis, Timo Trummer), the silver to the Slovaks (Alexander Slafkovsky, Marko Mirgorodsky, Matej Benus), and the bronze went to the British (Adam Burgess, James Kettle, Ryan Westley).

Among the canoeers, the best were the Czechs (composed of: Tereza Fiserova, Tereza Kneblova, Gabriela Satkova). The second place was taken by the British (Mallory Franklin, Sophie Ogilvie, Kimberley Woods), and the third by the Germans (Andrea Herzog, Elena Lilik, Nele Bayn).

Polish women (Katarzyna Liber, Klaudia Zwolińska, Aleksandra Stach) made several mistakes during their run, so the judges added 10 seconds to their penalty. Finally, the white-and-reds finished the competition with a time of 137.39 seconds and took the eighth place.
