COE places 18 provinces on yellow alert for rains

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) placed at 18 provinces in yellow alert and maintains three in green due to possible flooding of rivers, streams and ravines, as well as flash or urban floods, due to the forecast moderate to heavy downpours with thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The provinces on alert yellow are: Santo Domingo, National District, San Cristóbal, Valverde, San José de Ocoa, Bahoruco, Montecristi, Dajabón, Peravia, Elías Piña, Pedernales, Santiago Rodríguez, Barahona, San Juan, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Independencia and Azua. These last two were on red alert.

While green alert are La Vega, Monsignor Nouel and Monte Plata.

For Tuesday, the precipitations in the morning hours will be weak to moderate over provinces of the Caribbean coast, such as Peravia, San Cristóbal, El Gran Santo Domingo and San Pedro de Macorís, while during the afternoon, these rainy they will move to the northwest and the Central Cordillera.

The thermal sensation will continue to be hot over the country, due to the wind from the south and the time of year, for this reason, the population is recommended to drink enough liquids, wear light clothes (preferably light colors) and not expose themselves directly to solar radiation. from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
