In compliance with 10 search warrants in the Gustavo A. Madero and Cuauhtémoc municipalities, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC CDMX) arrested 15 members of a criminal cell dedicated to operating a call centerwith which they committed fraud and extortion to account holders.

The detainees, also dedicated to the drug distributionare part of the criminal cell led by Norma Patricia “N”, daughter of Delia Patricia “N” who during the 90s was known by the nickname of “Ma Baker” which, at that time, was in charge of controlling the sale of narcotics in Tepito, Iztapalapa and municipalities of the State of Mexico.
Derived from the searches, the authorities confiscated 800 kilos of marijuana, several doses of cocaine, two firearms, cartridges, scales, two vehicles and cash. In the arrests, the Local Attorney General’s Office, the Secretary of National Defense and the National Guard.
At a press conference, the head of the SSC CDMX, Omar García Harfuch, He pointed out that the scam was carried out through databases that the criminal cell had. The operators had a script on how to initiate the scam, asking their victims for names, banking information, and deposits.
To detect the presence of these people, police from the Mexico City carried out acts of investigation for several months, which began with the arrest of Óscar Yair “N” on March 2, 2023 in the La Joyita neighborhood, accused of coordinate the sale of drugs in the GAM.

“It was also learned that one of the ways in which economic resources were generated for its operations was mainly to use a property as a call center, in which it had a database of accounts to whom They called to scam them and commit fraud and extortion, with the use of your banking information. The most vulnerable people will be victims of this cell,” the official explained.
