Eye trial: The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court requests an appeal – After yesterday’s court decision
Order requesting ex officio appeal of acquittals with decision of the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Athens regarding Mati sent by the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Georgia Adelini to the Director of the Athens Appeals Prosecutor’s Office.
The order concerns the recognition of extenuating circumstances for the convicted as well as for the individual penalties imposed.
It is worth noting that the lawyers of the victims’ relatives are also expected to submit a request for an appeal against the decision of the three-member Misdemeanor Appeals Court. At the same time, the president of the Supreme Court will, according to information, request the speeding up of the court decision in order to avoid the risk of statute of limitations.

We ask that your ex officio exercise of the remedy of appeal be investigated in respect of those acquitted by the decision of the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Athens regarding Mati, as well as in regards to the recognition of mitigating circumstances to those convicted by the same above decision, the individual sentences that were imposed on them and the manner of imposing the sentences in general.
