The number of doctors who certify disability at KEPA more than doubles from 500 today, it will reach 1,200. In this context, the Special Body of Doctors (ESI) of Law 4961/2022 is established, which includes all the existing doctors of KEPA, while additional doctor positions will be announced.

The number of specialties is also increasing

At the same time, the number of specialties is also increasing. For the first time – since KEPA was created in 2010 – pediatricians, developmentalists and child psychiatrists will join the Committees.

For better and faster service to our fellow citizens with disabilities, a training program will be implemented for the medical corps and the administrative staff of the centers. Also, a platform will be created to support the functions of the Committees and the better and faster scheduling of appointments.

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, said: “I am extremely happy that as Minister of Health I was able to sign the increase in the number of doctors in KEPA, a request I had made as Minister of Labour. Our goal is to increase the competent committees of KEPA, to serve the people faster and to stop the suffering”.

Domna Michailidou, Minister of Labor and Social Security, said: “For the first time in the history of KEPA, we are proceeding to strengthen the number and specialties of the corps of doctors who certify disability. Until now, the medical corps has not only never been renewed, but several have left due to retirement or personal reasons. As a result, today we only have 500 doctors at KEPA, which delays the disability certification process. With today’s Decision, we implement the Government’s commitment to strengthening the Disability Certification Centers. We owe a decent everyday life to our fellow citizens with disabilities and we make it a reality. We don’t leave anyone behind.”
