KBR, Jakarta- The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP2MI) considers that eradicating the backing of the Criminal Act of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) is not difficult. Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani said it was easy to get access to backers through the screening of TIP victims.

He said, the victim would usually mention information about his illegal departure.

“They usually name the brokers who are the migrant workers, now are the brokers’ accomplices, arrest the brokers, process the law and put them in jail. Surely they will talk, who are they paying for, who are they controlling. Then when they say people above it, there is a dealer there is a tekong between the dealers. Later he will also mention who has been funded in practice so far. This means that it is a very easy thing to do,” said Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani to KBR, Thursday (8/6/2023) .

Benny said the TIP crime was not a crime that could stand alone and was a dirty business with a very large turnover of money.

Head of BP2MI Benny said he would meet with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) regarding the TIP transaction of IDR 400 billion. He hopes to find out where the flow of funds is going.

Benny hopes that the handling of TIP will be more effective. The reason is that now the head of the TIP Task Force is now held by the Indonesian National Police Chief, General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

“Now the task force will be more effective, more have teeth and guts. Within one week after the presidential meeting, we saw and felt members of the National Police moving in all regions,” said Benny.

Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani said it was necessary to have a legal policy that does not discriminate by imprisoning TIP dealers.
