In that sense, the president regretted that no other president could have made the decisions that have been made in this administration because they were due to his financiers: “We owe ourselves to the Salvadoran people”he assured.

Political redistribution of the country
During his speech, the president announced the proposal to reorganize the country’s political distribution, reducing the country’s mayoralties from 262 to 44. He assured that the current municipalities will become districts.

Reduce the Assembly to 60 deputies
The president also presented the proposal to reduce the Legislative Assembly from 84 to 60 deputies, as it was before the signing of the Peace Accords after the armed conflict.
“When ARENA and the FMLN signed that farce of the Peace Accords, they added 24 more deputies, to ensure the seats of their friends without losing the others, and to allow the FMLN to enter the table, which is the only thing that was fulfilled in the agreements. ».
