GIS warning. Listeriosis bacteria – contaminated hamburgers in Biedronka

It was reported that “Jeronimo Martins Polska SA withdrew the product from sale on June 6, 2023 from the distribution centers and stores of the Biedronka chain to which it was delivered”.

The public warning applies to Dania Express food with an expiration date of June 14, 2023. The product name is “Pork and chicken burger, 250g“. The food was produced by the company Konspol Holding Sp. z o. o., ul. Grottgera 40, 33-300 Nowy Sącz for the entity Jeronimo Martins Polska S.A., ul. Zniwna 5, 62-025 Kostrzyn.

It said state food control authorities were working with relevant stakeholders to investigate and overseeing “the process of recalling a dangerous batch of products contaminated with the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes“.

The communiqué emphasized that should not be consumed product from the affected lot. It was recommended that in case of symptoms of the disease contact your doctor.

Listeriosis is a threat primarily for pregnant women, as well as newborns and people with lower immunity. Infection occurs through direct contact with excretions or secretions and through consumption of contaminated food.

For pregnant women, infection can cause symptoms flu-like or resulting from inflammation of the urinary tract. The most dangerous consequences related to fetal death or miscarriage. In the elderly, listeriosis can cause meningitis, encephalitis or sepsis.
