Head of the Ministry of National Defense on a visit to the USA: We know that the Wagnerians are in Belarus. The US presence in Poland is the best method of deterring the aggressor

World news

The Wagnerians are in Belarus, the presence of the United States in Poland is the best method of deterring the aggressor, said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense staying in the US, quoted by the Ministry of National Defense in a Twitter post.

The Ministry of Defense announced on Twitter on the night of Monday to Tuesday that Minister Błaszczak began his visit to the United States.

At the Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky, the head of the Ministry of National Defense laid flowers in front of the monument dedicated to the memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attack and US soldiers who died fighting terrorism

– reported the MON.

Visit to Fort Knox

It was explained that on Tuesday, Minister Błaszczak will visit the main base of the V Corps in Fort Knox, where he will participate in the transfer of duties to the deputy commander of the V Corps of the US Army Ground Forces, Gen. Maciej Jabłoński. The head of the Ministry of National Defense will also take part in the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine.

The purpose of my visit to the United States is to appreciate the United States’ commitment to strengthening the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance. Here at Fort Knox is the headquarters of the V Corps, and the forward element of this command is permanently located in Poznan, Poland

– noted the minister, quoted in the MOD entry.

It is from Poznań that US soldiers are commanded on the entire eastern flank of NATO. This presence is very important. On the one hand, we have Russia’s attack on Ukraine. There’s a war going on there. On the other hand, we are perfectly aware of the threats from the territory of Belarus

he noted.

Threat from Belarus

We know that the Wagnerians are in Belarus. The presence of the United States in Poland is the best method of deterring the aggressor. I want to strongly emphasize that, above all, the Polish Army defends our Poland. Hence my decision to redeploy soldiers from the 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division and the 11th Lubuska Armored Cavalry Division to the east of Poland to strengthen the border

– added the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

We are proud that for the last two years General Joks served in the V Corps as a deputy commander

he assured.

His experience will be used in Poland. Now this position will be taken over by General Jabłoński with the task of creating interoperability

the minister stressed.

As the Ministry of Defense informed earlier, during his visit to the United States, Mariusz Błaszczak will visit the base in Fort Knox, where he will take part in handing over the duties of the deputy commander of the V Corps of the US Army to General Maciej Jabłoński, who will replace General Adam Joks in this position. The minister will also participate in the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine – a body established to support Ukraine defending itself against Russian aggression, and dealing with, among others, issues of the most needed military equipment. Several dozen countries participate in the meetings chaired by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

V Corps was reactivated in 2020; the forward command post located in Poznań coordinates the activities of American ground forces in Europe.

Gen. Jabłoński has so far served as the Land Forces Inspector in the General Command of the Armed Forces, and was also the plenipotentiary of the head of the Ministry of National Defense for the introduction of American Abrams tanks to the Polish Army.
