World news

Already this weekend, the Vilnius city municipality and the association AGATA are inviting you to the music festival “Vilnius – open music hall” for the third year running, dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the capital city. As many as 24 well-known artists and groups of the country will give free performances on the stages set up in the most unexpected spaces of the city. The hip-hop group “8 Kambarys”, which is putting the final touches before the concert on the Karoliniškii stage, promises to surprise the people of Vilnius with their latest works.

He will perform not only for his fans, but also for his neighbors

The performers of the well-known Lithuanian hip-hop group “8 Kambarys” who are preparing for the concert at the “Vilnius – open music hall” festival do not hide that in Karoliniškės they will perform for their fans not only the most famous hits, but also completely new works from the group’s upcoming album “Ramybė”. According to Karolis Talučis, a member of “8 Kambarios”, this concert is special for him for another reason.

“We are very happy with the opportunity to perform at this festival. Performances in non-standard spaces are always an interesting experience that allows you to get to know the audience closer, and this concert is extremely important to me also because of another detail – it will take place almost in my backyard. I myself live right next to the concert venue, so performing for the neighbors is a unique experience”, says K. Talutis, a member of the group “8 Kambarys”.

Calling their work emotional, the duo tries to convey the message to the listeners not to be afraid to be themselves and express their feelings. According to group member Daividas Alejūnas, Vilnius is a great place for that, accepting and tolerant of all visitors.

“In my opinion, Vilnius is the freest and most westernized city in our country. The audience of the capital city shows this very well. Although it is more difficult to shake off during concerts, when it happens, it is difficult to stop. In this case, the energy of freedom is felt, which we get ourselves during the concert”, D. Alejūnas tells about the freedom of Vilnius.

He does not hide his love for the capital

Anyone who has been to Vilnius knows its aura and breathless youth. It is not uncommon for a micro-district of the capital of Lithuania to be distinguished by its own characteristics, which prevent it from being confused with others. During the “Vilnius – open music hall” festival, the group “8 Kambarys” will perform in the Karoliniškii microdistrict, next to the house of Karolis, a member of this group. The artist claims that this district of Vilnius is extremely important to him.

“I really like Karoliniškės because of its nature and unique landscape reserve. I like to take a walk there, enjoy the nature and thus relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. Fabijoniškės also evoke feelings for me, because even before I moved to Vilnius from Zarasai, I used to visit my cousins in this area. I spent time there with them and we came up with all kinds of entertainment. In addition, lately I really like Žvērynas, but I think that all the micro-districts of Vilnius have a lot of charm”, K. Talutis shares his memories and love for Vilnius.

Group member Deividas Alejūnas also does not hide his love for the capital. “I spent my childhood and youth in Lazdynai. My home is in this district, so I am more than happy that we will be able to perform in the neighboring Karoliniškės. I hope that friends and relatives will come to my concert, so I will feel special support during the concert”, says D. Alejūnas.

Vilnius jubilee is invited to celebrate loudly

Although they have known Vilnius for quite a long time, both performers admit that the city is changing and revealing itself in new colors, especially this year when celebrating the capital’s anniversary. “On the occasion of Vilnius’s birthday, I look up more often and discover unseen details in the architecture of the old town, and I enjoy the activities and the abundance of entertainment in the city. Although I only contribute to the birthday with this concert, I think that pausing to admire and being able to appreciate the city you live in is an essential achievement of Vilnius’ 700th birthday,” says K. Talutis.

On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Vilnius, the performers send simple but sincere wishes to the city. “I would like to wish Vilnius to keep its raised flag as a free city, even more mutual understanding and smiles on faces. I would like to remind the people of Vilnius that we live in one of the most wonderful cities in Europe, so let’s be happy and celebrate Vilnius’ birthday every day”, wishes D. Alejūnas, a member of the “8 Rooms” group.

The concert of the group “8 Kambarys” can be heard already on June 3, at 8 p.m. Karoliniškės, near I. Šimulioni str. 5. The concert will be free and open to everyone. This is a great opportunity for community members to get to know each other and have fun on the first weekend of summer.
