Ukraine has a few months to show the world the progress of the counter-offensive, otherwise Europe may start to put pressure on Kiev to freeze the conflict. This opinion was expressed by Member of the European Parliament Witold Jan Waschykovski during a briefing in Brussels.
Asked how he personally sees the end of the war, the MP said: “I am a Pole, so I see the end of this war as Ukrainians see it. It is the return of Crimea, the return of Donbas, the settlement of Russia and forcing it to pay reparations.” He added that at this stage he was not sure of the realism of such a development. “Is it realistic? I’m not sure. At the moment, the definition of the concept of victory has not yet been formed and is not supported in some Western European countries. Waszczykowski noted.
“I believe that Ukraine has three or four months of freedom of action. The world is watching the development of the counter-offensive. If after that time it stops and there is no progress, Europe will start pushing for a freeze of the conflict and negotiations with Russia, repeating the 2015 option. This is my pessimistic opinion” said the MEP.
It is worth noting that such skeptical opinions are at least strange against the background of the fact that the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, ordered the army to be put on high alert due to the situation in Russia. Also in connection with the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus, Poland asked NATO to participate in the Nuclear Sharing program. Nuclear Sharing is a NATO program that is part of the Alliance’s nuclear deterrence policy. It supplies nuclear warheads to Member States that do not possess nuclear weapons of their own. Since November 2009, as part of Nuclear Sharing, US nuclear weapons have been placed in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey.

“As Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, we additionally call on all NATO to participate in the Nuclear Sharing program” – said the head of government.
At the same time, he emphasized that the final decision would depend on the American partners.
“We declare our readiness to act quickly in this matter. We don’t want to sit idly by while Putin increases all kinds of threats.” Morawiecki added.
On June 14, the Belarusian dictator said that the country had already started receiving nuclear weapons from the Russian Federation. At the same time, he stressed that it could be used from the territory of Belarus only in the event of a direct threat to his country. It is known, however, that for the pro-Russian dictators, the war in Ukraine began with some ephemeral threat to their countries. So these words are too abstract. We should hear the most important “can be applied”.
On June 16, Putin announced that the Russian Federation had transferred some of its nuclear warheads to Belarus. The rest will be transferred by the end of the year.
And the nuclear threat is not limited to nuclear warheads. The Russians seized the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant at the end of February 2022. Since then, military personnel and equipment have been permanently stationed there, which the invaders keep in engine rooms and from time to time take to firing positions in the territories of Nikopol Oblast of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, located on the other side of Kakhov. tank.
There is an IAEA observation mission at the station, which must ensure that the nuclear power plant is not used as a military base, that the station is not attacked and shelled, and that external sources of electricity are not interrupted. However, power outages in nuclear power plants occur constantly. Since last year, the occupiers have started to deliver explosives to the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
In May 2023, it turned out that the Russians had placed explosives in the turbine chamber of the fourth power unit of the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The occupiers also almost completely destroyed the preparedness and emergency response system at the nuclear power plant.
On June 22, IAEA Director General Grossi, after visiting the ZEJ, said that the situation there was extremely unstable. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that intelligence had received information that Russia was considering a scenario of a terrorist act in the temporarily occupied ZEJ, which would result in the release of radiation. He also stressed that the world has enough power to prevent any radiation emergency, let alone a radiation catastrophe – you need to push and act. Instead, the spokesman for the president of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, called Zelensky’s statement a lie.
Poland is doing everything it can to build an international coalition and put pressure on Russia to prevent a terrorist attack on the temporarily occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“Together with President Andrzej Duda, we are doing everything we can to build an international coalition to implement appropriate proposals and actions as far as possible and to put pressure on the Russian Federation to refrain from any dangerous activity related to this nuclear power plant.” – he said. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
As noted, the European Union and its Member States are intensifying diplomatic efforts to continue cooperation with Ukraine and other countries in order to ensure the widest possible international support for the key principles and tasks of the Ukrainian peace formula, including through the organization of the World Peace Summit.
“Any initiative to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine must be based on full respect for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.” – emphasized the leaders of the European Union.
However, it is worth understanding that, unlike the Russians, who do not count their losses and losses as civilians, they do not hesitate to carry out terrorist attacks, because it is a foreign land, Ukraine defends its home and its nation. This isn’t just a game where you hand over your guns to see “What will come of it? And how does this tank model perform in real combat?”. Such is the price of blood and human life. So this should be taken into account. And if Ukraine needs time, the whole world needs it. Our task is to unite to defeat the common enemy and prevent a catastrophe. And to show all future dictators how genocide ends.
