Navalny’s supporters called for protests throughout the country, the OVD-Info project learned about the detention of Russians who decided to protest in 16 cities (mainly in Moscow). Pickets, judging by the video report of the project, were single or not numerous.
Among the detainees are people who walked with balloons, and a man who congratulated passers-by on the day of the crane operator (it is also celebrated on June 4).
In St. Petersburg, two people were detained for wearing a mask with Navalny’s face, and in Moscow a man was detained wearing a jacket with the inscription “SHIZO”. In total – 109 detainees.
On January 17, 2021, Navalny returned to Russia from Germany, where he was treated after being poisoned with a Novichok class warfare agent. The politician was in a coma for 18 days. The opposition leader considers the assassination attempt a terrorist act organized by the FSB on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Immediately after his return, the politician was detained in the Yves Rocher case and arrested for 30 days (as part of the case, he received a suspended sentence and had to report to investigators, but did not do this because of treatment in Germany).
On February 2, the Simonovsky Court of Moscow, at an offsite hearing in the Moscow City Court, replaced Navalny’s suspended sentence with a real one in the Yves Rocher case. Taking into account the time spent under house arrest, the politician will stay in a general regime colony for two years and eight months.
Almost all the projects of the politician – the Anti-Corruption Foundation, Navalny’s headquarters and others – are recognized as extremist in Russia and banned. In January 2022, it became known that Navalny and his associates in Russia were included in the list of terrorists.
