Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained 430 Palestinians, including 52 kids and 11 females, in May 2023, according to the Palestinian Center for Prisoners Studies (PCPS).
While detaining Palestinians, Israeli forces raided hundreds of houses, arbitrarily searched them, and vandalized their contents.
The highest rate is in Jerusalem
The Palestine Center indicated that Jerusalem witnessed the highest rate of detention, amounting to more than 38% of the total detentions, as Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnaped 165 defenseless Palestinians, including women and children.
Israeli troops detained at least 35 children and 6 females, including the young girl Sondos Al-Masri who confronted an Israeli settler trying to undress her Hijab. Later, She was released under the condition of 5 days of house arrest and a fine of 1,000 shekels.
Besides, the Israeli occupation courts issued hundreds of deportation, house arrest, and administrative detention orders against Jerusalemites.
They have issued over 48 deportation orders against Palestinian citizens, most of which are from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli courts have also issued 37 house arrest orders, 17 of them against children and 3 against women.
16 administrative detention orders have been issued against Jerusalmites in May, PCPS said.
Israeli intelligence summoned Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, the preacher of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, for interrogation, and he was released on the condition that he attends the investigation wherever he is summoned and not communicate with Arab media channels.
Besieged Gaza detentions
The Israeli occupation has been severely besieging the occupied Gaza for over 16 consecutive years by which it controls the life of over 2.2 million Palestinians and isolates them from the outer world.
Though, Israeli troops continue to restrict Gaza’s Palestinians by shooting them, launching aggressions, and detaining them in the eastern borders and the Gaza offshore.
Last May, Israeli forces detained 6 Palestinians from Gaza, including 2 fishermen, one of whom has been wounded during an Israeli warships attack offshore Gaza. The other 4 Palestinian were detained near the eastern Gaza borders.
Kidnapped kids
The PCPS’s head, Reyad Al-Ashqar, stated that the Israeli occupation escalated targeting Palestinian children with detention, house arrests, and high fines in the past May.
He reported that Israeli forces have kidnapped 52 Palestinian children, 4 of them are under the age of 12, the youngest of whom is Omar Al-Natsha, 10.
Though he is only 15 years old, an Israeli court sentenced the Jerusalemite child, Mohammad Rajab Abu Qatsh, to 15 years in prison in addition to a fine of 258000 Shekels (70,000$).
The Israeli court also sentenced 5 other children to administrative detention with no charge or a clear sentence.
Female detained Palestinians
Israeli occupation forces detained in May 11 Palestinian women, according to the Palestine center.
IOF detained the woman Elham Shouka, 54, from Bethlehem, who is the mother of a Palestinian detainee, Hasan Shouka.
Israeli troops also detained the woman Ikhlas Tameila, 32, while returning to Palestine via the Al-Karama crossing.

They also detained the girl Samah Awad from Qalqilya, and she was transferred to administrative detention.
Administrative detainees
The Israeli occupation has escalated the administrative detention against the Palestinian people, targeting all categories of the Palestinian people.
Israeli courts have issued 225 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, 139 of which are renewal orders. 85 orders have been issued against Palestinians for the first time, most of them are ex-detainees, the Palestine Center reported.
So far in 2023, Israeli courts have issued 1230 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, including new and renewal orders.
As a result of Israeli arbitrary and illegal use of administrative detention, around 1200 Palestinians are currently administratively detained in Israeli prisons, the Palestinian Prisoners Office said.
It indicated that the Israeli courts issued 108 new administrative detention orders against Palestinians for the first time, most of them are ex-detainees who spent many years inside Israeli prisons.
PCPS’s director Reyad Al-Ashqar reported that Israeli occupation renewed the administrative detention of 99% of Palestinian detainees, some of them for the sixth time.
The Israeli occupation claims that the Palestinian administrative detainees have secret files that cannot be disclosed at all, so the detainees do not know the length of their sentences or the charges against them.
The administrative detainee is often subjugated to the renewal of the detention period more than once, and it may sometimes reach a full year, which is also subjected to renewal.
Medical negligence victims
The number of sick Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including patients with chronic and serious diseases, has increased to 750, Wa’ed Association for Detainees and Ex-detainees stated.
Wa’ed reported that there are 26 cancer patient detainees in Israeli prison, in which the prison administration practices medical negligence against them.
The Israeli occupation deliberately rejects to meet their needs and provide them required medical care and treatment.
One of the serious cases is the detainee Asif Al-Rifai, 20, as recent examinations revealed that cancer has spread in most parts of his body, and he suffers from a very bad psychological condition.
It indicated that the detainee Walid Daqqa is one of the recent stories that prove the criminality of the Israeli occupation and its systematic attacks against Palestinian detainees.
Another victim is cancer-patient Palestinian detainee Walid Daqqa whom the Israeli occupation rejected his early parole on May 31 despite his deteriorated health.
Daqqa was diagnosed with a rare type of bone marrow cancer several months ago and has been suffering successive health setbacks.
Like other Palestinian detainees, Daqqa, who was previously diagnosed with leukemia in 2015, has suffered from medical negligence during his 37 years in prison, which has worsened his health.
Daqqa is not the first story of Palestinian detainees suffering from Israeli occupation’s racial violations and systematic attacks.
Adnan’s death after an 86-day hunger strike
On Tuesday, May 2, the Palestinian detainee Khader Adnan died inside Israeli jails after going into an 86-day hunger strike against the unjust administrative detention he suffered in Israeli prisons.
Despite the deterioration of his health as a result of his long hunger strike, the occupation courts repeatedly rejected his request for his release, leading to his death.
Adnan’s last hunger strike is the sixth inside Israeli prisons, rejecting all Israeli claims and false charges against him as well as the illegal administrative detention.
The death of the Palestinian detainee Adnan raised the number of Palestinian detainee martyrs inside Israeli prisons to 237.
