Labor Day: Jalisco stands out for labor peace World news

Jalisco is one of the states in the country with the most labor peace due to the resolution of strikes and labor conflicts.

According to data provided by the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) of the Entity, At the end of last March, there were no strikes nor any worksites.

According to the Institute of Statistical and Geographic Information (IIEG) of Jalisco, conciliations are also on the rise. In previous March there were 2,992.

The organization highlighted that in that month there was a 9.4% reduction in the presentation of individual labor claims compared to February of this year.

Marco Valerio Pérez Gollaz, who heads the Ministry of Labor in the Entity, highlighted that this favorable climate is recognized throughout Mexico.

“We have zero strikes, there are demands, but no outbreaks; There is dialogue, solution tables, and in that sense we can say that we are in a State that directs the labor policy of this country.”

The president of the Labor Commission of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), Ricardo Barbosa stated that these positive results will attract more private investment.

“There are no longer strikes due to extortion or simulation. Before there were unions and companies that deceived the labor authority to avoid paying commercial obligations, and with the new model it is practically impossible that it happens, because there is stricter supervision by the authority and greater involvement of the workers,” said the member of the business leaders.

He added that the unions also extorted the companies to sign collective bargaining contracts or more quotas under the threat that if they did not do so they would stop work.

“Now for a union to sign a collective bargaining contract, workers have to be involved in its authorization and voting, therefore, these simulation and extortion strikes can no longer occur under the new union model” , he commented.

Antonio Álvarez, representative of the Revolutionary Confederation of Workers and Peasants (CROC), He said that the application of the new Federal Labor Law makes the right to strike restrictive.

“It imposes a procedure that makes it inaccessible and, then, instead we have to seek conciliation and we have given more work to the courts.”

Juan Huerta, from the Confederation of Mexican Workers (CTM), He indicated that this group has sought to promote agreements between employers and staff when there are disagreements.

“And if not, let there be a good settlement. We have achieved that.”

José Enrique López, Secretary of Social Security of the Mexican Regional Workers Confederation (CROM) in Jalisco, he emphasized that “the union education” that exists in Jalisco has allowed us to work more closely with the Government.

For his part, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) assured that in almost six years of Government he has managed to reverse, with the support of the workers, the “anti-worker” tendencies that have been dragging on since previous six-year terms.

“By doing it together, as I already expressed, we have made history,” said the President in the message he issued in the Treasury Room of the National Palace.

The Chief Executive took stock of the labor policy of his administration, such as the increase in the minimum wage of more than 100% with business support.

In terms of union democracy, AMLO stressed that the free and secret vote was achieved in the election of leaders, the non-interference of the Government in the life of the unions and full guarantees to freely exercise the right to strike. “The workers have not been repressed nor is there any persecution of the union leaders.”

This adds to the favorable environment that exists in the field of workers’ salaries in the State. Yesterday, this publishing house published that the economically active population that receives just one minimum wage decreased and those that earn between two and three increased. According to the Private Initiative, this is due to the growth of productivity, training and improvement of skills in personnel.

The sectors that have had the best numbers in terms of job creation in the first quarter of the year are the processing, construction, electrical, extractive industries, as well as commerce, communications and transportation.
