Romain Langasque and Simon Forsström have qualified for the US Open via the US Open Qualification Series, which was a ranking of results in four DP World Tour tournaments.
Adrian Meronk won the ranking after i.a. victory in the Italian Open, but he has already qualified for the US Open via the top-60 in the world ranking. It was therefore Romain Langasque in 2nd place who took the first place, while the second place went to Simon Forsström.
Thorbjørn Olesen was No. 12 and best Dane, but far from the 3rd place that gave him a place in the US Open. It was via this ranking that Thorbjørn qualified last year.
A year ago, Simon Forsström played in the Nordic League, where he was close to winning the ranking and qualifying for the Challenge Tour. But then in August he became No. 2 in the Danish Challenge Tour tournament, Frederikshavn Challenge presented by Hessel, and from there he seized the chance and played for a full Challenge Tour card when, after good results in just 11 tournaments, he became No. 42 on the ranking list. But Forsström was not done impressing when he won the Tour School and in mid-May he won the Soudal Open, so now he is the DP World Tour winner.
While 34-year-old Simon Forsström has qualified for his first major ever, 28-year-old Romain Langasque has played five majors, including a single US Open in 2020, where he was No. 34.
The US Open Qualification Series is a tally of points earned in the DS Automobiles Italian Open, Soudal Open, KLM Open and Porsche European Open. It was introduced after the European 36 hole qualification was canceled due to the corona pandemic. But although the one-day qualifier was played at Walton Heath again this year for the first time since 2019, it was also possible to qualify via a mini-ranking.
The US Open is played at Los Angeles GC from 15 – 18 June, and unfortunately it seems to be Danish participation.
Below is the top of the final ranking and Danes after all four tournaments.
