Lidl takes market share in Sweden

World news

Lidl Sweden’s growth can be compared with a 6.8 percent growth rate for the rest of the industry, according to a press release.

The low-price chain has been seen as a winner when price inflation on food increased sharply, which also led to changed consumer behaviour, something that the company now confirms. The turnover amounted to a total of SEK 16.7 billion, which was a record figure for the company.

“The trend we have seen in recent years where more consumers are breaking their habits and routines has accelerated during the autumn and winter. In recent months, we have seen a fantastic influx of new customers to our stores,” says Swedish manager Jakob Josefsson in the press release.

At the same time, the company’s loss amounted to SEK 19 million in 2022/23 compared to SEK 132 million in the same period last year.
