President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, called on Iran to “immediately stop supporting” Russia in the war in Ukraine with drone supplies, the Elysée Palace reported.

The French president “warned of the serious consequences, both for security and humanitarian, of Iran’s supply of drones to Russia. He called on Tehran to immediately stop supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine,” the Elysée Palace said in a statement.

Materials for Russia from Iran

On Friday, the White House said that Russia is receiving from Iran materials needed to build UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) production facilities on Russian territory.

This factory could be fully operational early next year

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.

Also on Friday, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said Iran was providing Russia with a steady stream of arms and ammunition that was being used to kill civilians in Ukraine. In return, Russia provides Iran with advanced military technology, financial support, and advice that the regime can use to threaten the West’s partners in the Middle East and quell social protests.
