Ukraine’s air defense forces destroyed more than 20 drones in airstrikes launched by Russia on Kiev in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Ukrainian military authorities said.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Russia launched a new wave of attacks on Kiev, as a result of which at least one person was killed and four others were injured.

Calling it a “massive” attack launched in several waves, the head of Kiev’s military administration, Serhiy Popko, said on the Telegram messaging app that Russia carried out the attack using only Iranian-made Shahed drones.

It was the third attack on the capital in 24 hours. It is not known how many drones Russia has launched.

Russia repeatedly attacked the Ukrainian capital in May with a combination of drones and missiles, mostly at night, in an apparent attempt to undermine Ukrainians’ will to fight after more than 15 months of war.

Tuesday’s strikes were the 17th Russian airstrike on Kiev this month and came after the city was attacked twice on Monday, including an unusual strike during the day.
