Guatemala, May 27, 2023 (AGN).- We present the highlights of the news event this Saturday, the last of May.
With the delivery of the benefit of 500 quetzales to older adults, this week more than 11 thousand people joined. This as part of the Economic Contribution Program for the Elderly.
In the second work tour, the president has delivered notifications to adults over 65 years of age.
This week, Executive authorities, headed by the President of the Republic, notified new beneficiaries from Petén, Retalhuleu, Suchitepéquez, Santa Rosa and Alta Verapaz.
Besides, the President of the Republic held a telephone conversation this Friday with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.
Both discussed issues of bilateral interest, including migration, transnational crime and women’s protection.
In this regard, the US vice president congratulated Guatemala for the City of Non-Violence against Women project, a comprehensive model for the empowerment of women victims of violence. This is supported by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
In another order, this year the Ministry of the Interior plans to set up four dining rooms in the country’s police headquarters, for the benefit of more than 14,000 agents.
These dining rooms will be located in different headquarters of the National Civil Police, where the agents on duty will receive their three meals for free.
These actions are part of the Dignification axis of the Police Transformation Strategy promoted by the Government of Guatemala.
