Nitrous oxide can be banned in public places

World news

The sale of nitrous oxide has increased in the country. There are more young people who abuse to get high and the containers are thrown away in areas. Therefore, it has now started to be banned in some places in the country, for example Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm.

But now the municipality of Bollnäs wants it to be prohibited throughout their municipality in public places to use nitrous oxide.

Boss Wallbäcks at the municipality in Bollnäs believes that he has drawn up a proposal for a ban on nitrous oxide. He believes that it should not be used unless there are specific professional reasons for it. For example, to relieve pain in healthcare or preserve food.

If the proposal passes in the municipal council (next local-politician meeting) and the county board approves it, the municipality believes that they could be the first in the country with such a large nitrous oxide ban. So says Bosse to SVT Gävleborg:

“If you have legitimate reasons for having nitrous oxide, that’s okay, but if you don’t, then (this possible) change in the local ordinance gives the police the opportunity to pick off, especially young people, or others as well, who abuse. “
