For several weeks and on repeated occasions, parents from Cortés, Ocotepeque and La Paz have protested the absence of teachers in the schools. schools where their children go.
That is the case of Doña María, who with other parents held a peaceful protest in the San Rafael Basic Centerin La Paz, demanding that they name teachers.
“I am afraid that my son will no longer want to go to classes later because they later get used to not studying and prefer to skip all that, in 2020 that happened with one of my sons, I am afraid that the dropout will happen again,” said Mrs. María.
For his part, the Education expert, Johnny Varela, indicated that the authorities (of Education) must investigate the problem in each educational center and propose a solution in hiring the necessary teachers. “In the meantime, it is imperative that school directors develop a special care plan to care for students who do not have a teacher and ensure adequate care from the available teaching staff,” he explained.
He also noted that if some type of plan is not implemented, this could result in negative consequences, such as students’ loss of learning and a decrease in their motivation to study, which could eventually lead to school dropouts.
At the same time, Gilberto Benitezformer departmental director of Cortés and director of the José Castro López Schoolexplained that there is a tendency for students to abandon the education systemsince they do not have the teachers who will teach them during the school year.
