MIAMI (WSVN) – City of Miami Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man accused of a strong-armed robbery.

Police said the robbery happened at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Hibiscus Street, Monday.

Surveillance video showed the suspect riding his bicycle as he pulled up to a 73-year-old woman who was walking in the area, around 7 a.m.

The suspect shoved the victim, which caused her to fall. He then tried to take her purse.

“I felt like I was living a nightmare like it was a bad dream. It was terrible,” said the victim in Spanish who did not want to be identified, but wanted to speak out.

Once the suspect took it, he fled the scene on his bicycle.

The woman sustained minor injuries to her right arm and was transported to Coral Gables Hospital by Miami Fire Rescue.

Doctors gave her 11 stitches. Her left hand is bruised and swollen, and the worst part is she had no clue what was about to happen to her.

“It happened so fast, so fast,” she said. “I didn’t get to see his face. I know he was young.”

While she has that painful memory, it won’t stop her from walking once she heals. She hopes someone recognizes the man on the bike and calls police.

“I wanted to talk to see if someone can help,” she said, “so that detectives can catch him. I don’t want this to happen to someone else.”

The suspect has been described by police as a dark-skinned male who appeared to be in his 30s.

He stands about 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black hat, red underwear, gray pants and black shoes with a white sole. He had a dark-colored bicycle.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
