One person was killed and 22 injured in a night-time missile attack on Odessa. This data was provided by the Ukrainian police.
Among the injured are four children aged 11 to 17. Russian rockets fell on the historic center of the city. Residential buildings, civil infrastructure facilities, as well as monuments, including the largest Orthodox church in the city – the Transfiguration Cathedral, were destroyed.
According to the Ukrainian air force, the Russians used 19 missiles for the attack, launched from land and ships in the Black Sea. These included the “Kalibr” and “Iskander” missiles.
Zelensky: For Odessa, Russian terrorists will receive an answer
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram that the Russians will receive an answer for the attack on Odessa. “Rockets launched against peaceful cities, apartment buildings, churches,” President Zelensky wrote. “There can be no excuse for Russian evil. And for Odessa, Russian terrorists will receive an answer. They will certainly feel this response,” the Ukrainian president wrote. He added that all those affected by the attacks will receive help. He also thanked everyone who helps the people of Odessa.
The heaviest fighting in eastern Ukraine
The General Staff also summarized the situation at the front on the 515th day of the full-scale Russian invasion. The report said that the Russians continue to concentrate their efforts in the east of the country, in the Donetsk region. The heaviest fighting takes place in the vicinity of the cities of Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Mariinka. There, over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian and Russian troops clashed about 40 times.
The Ukrainians are counterattacking. Over the past day, the Ukrainian air force carried out 12 air strikes on areas where the Russian army is concentrated. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed four Russian operational-tactical reconnaissance drones and shelled 21 Russian artillery emplacements.
