Smayilov criticized the country’s air transport

Prime Minister Alikhan Smayilov criticized the companies that provide air transport services in the country. Literally, the reason for the flight delay is not explained to the passengers, there is no proper service and the price is too high. This is reported by the Stan.kz news agency.

Civil aviation issues of the country were discussed at the government meeting. Prime Minister Alikhan Smayilov noted that there are reasonable criticisms from passengers about domestic airlines. For example, there are many complaints about flight delays or cancellations.

“In January-February of this year, the Fly Arystan company did not perform almost half of the flights from Kostanay Airport to Astana and Almaty. On February 25, the passengers of this airline caused a conflict due to the 10-hour delay of the Astana-Shymkent flight. In the end, the flight was canceled at all. “Unfortunately, airlines have a low culture of direct dialogue with passengers. They do not explain the reasons for flight delays in a timely manner. Decent service is not offered,” the Head of Government noted.

According to him, many questions arise in the price policy. For example, a 1.5-hour low-cost flight from Astana to Almaty can be twice as expensive as similar routes in Europe, USA or China. In this regard, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition believes that the current price policy is working to increase the profits of airlines, not in the interests of passengers.

“Today, the fuel levy, which is used to cover fuel costs, should logically depend on the change in the price of aviation fuel. However, it remains unchanged at the same level as the ticket price. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the price policy and constantly work to improve the air transportation service and service quality. interests should come first,” said the Prime Minister.

Alikhan Smayilov also criticized the state of airports in the country.

“It is necessary to repair the runways at some airports of the country. Much of the special machinery, such as the ladders and fueling machines, is obsolete. The land around the airports is given over to residential construction or business facilities and is being used irregularly. That is, international standards are not observed. This affects flight safety,” said Alikhan Smayilov.

Thus, the Head of the Government instructed the authorized state bodies to develop road maps for the modernization of the airport infrastructure, to carry out work on confiscation of illegally granted land plots near the airports, as well as to work out the issue of increasing the production of jet fuel.

In general, today, more than 700 domestic flights on 56 routes are operated in the republic. Its 103 routes provide international air transportation to 27 countries. At the same time, 9 more destinations will be launched this year: Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Ankara, Karachi, Lahore, Jeddah, Muscat, Prague and Tel Aviv. It is planned to open flights to Mumbai, Hong Kong, Vienna, Tokyo, Singapore, New York and other cities by 2025.
