Sobyanin: Moscow was attacked by drones

Moscow attacked by drones: The Russian capital Moscow was attacked by several drones, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. “As a result of the drone attack, some buildings were slightly damaged early this morning,” Sobyanin wrote on Telegram. No one was “seriously hurt”. Residents were evacuated to safety, and security forces were involved.

The governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov said that air defense was involved: “Several drones were shot down on the outskirts of Moscow.” Photos and videos of the plume of smoke have surfaced on social media. According to unconfirmed reports on Russian Telegram channels, a total of about 25 unmanned aerial vehicles carried out the raid, most of them shot down.

Russia has been waging a war of aggression against neighboring Ukraine for more than 15 months. In recent weeks, cases of shelling and drone attacks in Russian regions have become more frequent. Probably the most impressive incident took place in early May, when two drones were shot down directly over the Kremlin. Moscow has blamed the alleged assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin on the leadership in Kyiv, which denies any involvement. Many international observers consider it likely that the attack on the Kremlin was staged by Moscow itself to justify its brutal attacks on Ukraine.
