Strike against Houthi rebels. “Joe Biden will not hesitate to take further steps”

World news

The White House announced that air attacks on the positions of Yemen’s Houthi rebels were successful, but a precise assessment of their effectiveness is still pending.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the US had no desire to escalate the conflict but President Joe Biden would not hesitate to take further steps if necessary.

Last night, the United States and Britain launched attacks on Houthi rebel positions in Yemen. This was in response to Houthi attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea.

In a conversation with journalists aboard Air Force One, John Kirby said it would take some time to assess how much Houthi potential had been destroyed.

Attack on military targets

– I would just like to emphasize that these were legitimate military goals. The strike was intended to limit the ability to store, launch and guide drones and missiles, he said.

When asked if President Biden was ready for a potential war in Yemen and sending American troops there, John Kirby replied that the United States was not interested in war.

– We are not interested in conflict of any kind. In fact, everything the president did was aimed at preventing the conflict from escalating, he added.

John Kirby drew attention to yesterday’s statement by Joe Biden, who wrote that although the US does not seek conflict, it will not hesitate to take further steps if necessary.
