“Syria Response Coordinators” warns of the worsening humanitarian situation in northern Syria

World news

The “Syria Response Coordinators” team said that it is facing a huge deficit in financing the humanitarian response in Syria by not providing the necessary amounts to finance the humanitarian sectors, and the response deficit has reached unprecedented levels, exceeding 90% of the necessary funding.

He added: The United Nations was unable to secure the actual donor commitments that were previously made during donor conferences, and it will not be able to secure these commitments in the coming period, which opens the door to a new confrontation for the Syrians with hunger.

The team also drew attention to all the numbers announced so far, which include all Syrian lands, and when moving to the regions of northwest Syria, it is noticed that there is a greater deficit in humanitarian response operations, which shows the expected catastrophic results for civilians in general and the displaced in the camps in particular.

In a related context, the World Food Program “WFP” has begun procedures to remove more than 2.5 million beneficiaries in Syria from food aid, starting next July, in the event of not obtaining sufficient funding, after the program’s deficit reached 98.9%.

The program will also increase the time period for providing aid from one month to more than 40 days in the event that the deficit in financing its own operations continues during the coming period.

The Syria Response Coordinators Team urgently called on all humanitarian organizations to provide protection and support that gives priority to the most vulnerable groups, and this includes the elderly, people with special needs, women and children.
