A security collaborator in the Syrian regime’s intelligence was killed and 3 others were wounded, in an armed attack targeting a car they were traveling in in the town of Atman in the northern countryside of Daraa.
The Free Horan Gathering website stated that an attack by unidentified gunmen targeted yesterday, Thursday, a Tucson car carrying 4 people collaborating with the Air Force Intelligence branch of the Syrian regime, in the town of Atman, north of the city of Daraa, killing one of them and injuring the others.
The source added that among the targeted collaborators, Abdel Nasser Kiwan, nicknamed (Aboud al-Shalbak), was identified as the leader of a local group affiliated with the Air Force Intelligence in the city of Tafas. This group is active in carrying out assassinations and kidnappings targeting opponents of the Syrian regime, in addition to looting and blocking roads. It is also accused of working in the drug trade.
The source explained that the four targeted persons are from the city of Tafas, and they were all transferred to Daraa National Hospital.
Escalation of assassinations in Daraa
Since regime forces, with Russian and Iranian support, took control of Daraa governorate in July 2018, the region has witnessed security chaos and increasing cases of assassinations by unknown gunmen targeting former fighters of the Free Army and members of the regime.
Last April, the Violations Documentation Office in the Free Horan Gathering recorded the implementation of 54 operations and assassination attempts in Daraa Governorate, which resulted in the death of 32 people and the wounding of 50 others, with varying degrees of injury, and the survival of 4 people.
It is customary for no party to claim responsibility for the assassinations that take place in the Daraa governorate, to record these operations under an unknown name, at a time when the people and activists of the governorate accuse the security services of the Syrian regime and Iranian militias, through their recruitment of local militias, of standing behind many assassinations that go on. Most of the time they are opponents of the regime and the Iranian expansion project in the region.
