The deputy head of Ukrainian intelligence bluntly: Vladimir Putin and Yevgeny Prigozhin are on our list. We’re trying to eliminate them

World news

One of the goals of the Ukrainian secret services is to eliminate Vladimir Putin, who is in hiding. The owner of the mercenary Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, is also on the same list, admitted the deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR), general Vadym Skibicki, in an interview with the Italian daily La Repubblica. The interview was also published on the portal of the German daily “Die Welt”.

According to Skibicki, currently “Russians are at war with each other, fighting for power. People like Yevgeny Prigozhin, Igor Girkin and others who criticize the government and the army.”

Putin at the top of the list

Asked directly whether there are attempts to kill Putin, the deputy head of the HUR stated:

He notices that we are getting closer to him, but he may also fear that he will be killed by his own.

He confirmed that Putin is the person at the “top of the list”, as is Prigozhin.

We’re trying to kill him

said Skibicki, when asked about Prigozhin.

Putin is the most important target “because he coordinates and decides what happens. Ultimately, however, everyone will have to answer for their actions,” the general stressed.

He added that Russian propagandists are not the most important target of Ukrainian intelligence.

Ukraine’s priority

Our priority is to eliminate unit commanders who give orders to their men to attack. (…) I cannot say who they are or how many there are, but we follow very closely all their movements, command centers and front line positions

Skibicki said.

We must disarm the enemy (…). And we have to get him to change all his goals and plans again

– added the deputy head of HUR.

Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov and (Russian) Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu planned the attack and now they can’t turn back. The Chechen Ramzan Kadyrov was everywhere for the first few months, but where is he now? He realized that strategically the Putin regime had already lost. But the list doesn’t end there, there’s Sergei Surovikin and the Russian commanders who joined in thinking they’d take part in the parade

Skibicki said.

The deputy head of the HUR was also asked about the limit of this list – whether there are civilians on it, such as oligarchs or propagandists.

We are at war, and these are our enemies. If some important figure manufactures or finances weapons for them, then eliminating them will save many civilian lives. (…) According to international conventions, this is a legitimate aim

Skibicki explained.
