World news

We met the winners of the first regional finals of the 23rd edition of the Tymbark Cup. The games at the provincial level have already ended in: Świętokrzyskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Opolskie, Śląskie, Małopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie. There was no shortage of beautiful stories, spectacular actions or green cards awarded for fair-play – also for … fans!

In this year’s edition of the Tymbark Cup, a significant change was made to the regulations: only school teams could join the game. The change was dictated by the desire to reach a wider audience, especially those children who do not have much experience in football on an organized level, and to level the playing field. As a result, 50% more schools entered the tournament than last year. Every fourth primary school in Poland participates in the XXIII edition of the Tymbark Cup. Particularly pleased a significant percentage of outlets from smaller towns. We hosted more of them than in previous years – notes Piotr Popiołek, provincial coordinator of the Tymbark Cup in the Opolskie Voivodeship.

In the first week of the Tymbark Cup, nearly 600 teams from six regions of Poland joined the game. The four best teams from each voivodship will play in the national final in Warsaw (one for girls and one for boys from the U-10 and U-12 categories).

Świętokrzyskie – the second promotion of the Brody Commune, a green card for … fans!

In the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, among the oldest participants of the Tymbark Cup, i.e. students from the U-12 category, the competition was won by teams Primary School No. 34 in Kielce (boys) and Public Primary School in Klimontów (girls).

In the U-10 category, teams from Brody commune (girls – for the second time in a row!) and Primary School No. 4 in Sandomierz (boys). She became the champions of the region in the youngest group, i.e. U-8 Primary School in Tychów Nowy (girls) and Primary School No. 33 in Kielce (boys).

There was no shortage of positive emotions during the finals in Świętokrzyskie. Not only on the field, but also in the stands. – The referees showed a lot of green cards. Both for fair play and cheering! Such a card was received by the parents of children from one of the Sandomierz U-10 teams – tells Maciej Cender, provincial coordinator of the Tymbark Cup in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.

Of course, I had to keep my word… so now I have a shaved head! says the trainer. – We will definitely not go to Warsaw only for a trip. We will enjoy playing every game, after all, we are playing for memories and experiences that will stay with children for life he adds.

The institution from which the winners in the U-12 category come is one of the smallest schools participating in the Tymbark Cup – taking into account all regions!

When we started playing in the Tymbark Cup with the girls 3 years ago, they took 3rd place in the provincial finals. Now, as the last year, we managed to win in the U-12 category. So my several years of work was crowned. I am extremely proud, especially since our school has only about 110 students – he tells Mariusz Małysz, coach of the team from Malechów. – Among the players is my daughter, she infected her friend with passion for sport. The girls are already thinking about the next stage, it’s a special experience for them. We will face teams from larger centers, where the level is certainly high. We’ll do our best – he adds.
