The creative festival Maker Faire Prague, which hosts the Křižík pavilions at the Prague Exhibition Center today and tomorrow, reports strong international participation. Over 130 maker projects using a whole range of disciplines and technologies will be on display, from 3D printing, electronics, robotics to art installations and experimental design.

It will arrive from Japan Yoshi Matsuoka, which will introduce balancing robots. “They only have two wheels and try to keep their balance by moving their bodies back and forth. We will build a small soccer field with a robot, and those interested can try to shoot the ball into the goal,” promises Matsuoka. In addition, he will also show a project of an automatic clock tuner. The device synchronizes the old pendulum clock with Internet Time (NTP) by setting the pendulum cycle time.

At this year’s Maker Faire, it will be possible to play giant light-up Tetris. “There is a large LED cylinder with 1680 LEDs displaying beautiful animations. These allow up to 4 players to play Tetris against each other at the same time,” says the maker Martin Oehler from Germany stating that this roller is powered by Raspberry Pi, Teensy 4 or PixelBlaze.

Visitors will also be able to exercise their muscles, for example when building their own kayak or canoe. The Bobrowe Źeremia Foundation from Poland will present the production of these vessels using the Skin on Frame method. It combines modern and traditional technologies. This is a project for individual and group construction. “The children will learn skills such as tying, ironing and sewing during the project. We create the kayaks by hand with great care to ensure high quality and durability,” explains the author of the project Marcin Bober.

Maker Faire gates open both days at 10 a.m. and visitors are welcome until 6 p.m.
