The Swedish Parliament said in Vilnius that Ukraine should be guaranteed NATO membership

The NATO summit in Vilnius should not end with words only, Ukraine should receive guarantees that it will become a member of the alliance after winning the war.

Swedish MP Magnus Jakobson of the coalition Christian Democratic Party said so in a commentary for Guildhall.

“My position is that Ukraine should become a member of NATO. As for the NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine should receive guarantees that it will become a member. Not now, the summit in Vilnius is too early for that, after the victory, but in Vilnius it should not be just words,” said the politician.

“I am convinced that Ukraine will win, it’s only a matter of time, the training of pilots on the F16 and Grippen has already started,” concluded the Swedish MP.

Earlier, also in the German Bundestag, a call was made to hand over to Ukraine the MAP and the timetable for joining NATO already at the summit in Vilnius. CDU/CSU MP and member of the foreign relations committee Roderich Kiesewetter said that countries supporting Ukraine should stop expressing only regret in response to Russia’s new war crimes, a strong response to Russia is needed. The NATO membership plan and the timetable for joining the alliance, which Ukraine has already received at the Vilnius summit, should be such an answer.

In turn, the Member of the European Parliament from Estonia and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Jake Madison, said that a good result of the NATO summit in Vilnius will be a unified declaration by all members of the alliance that Ukraine will become a member of NATO in the next three years.
