Zděchov (Vsetín region) – Today, visitors to the tractor fair in Zděchov in Vsetín region saw tractors wading through mud, going up steep slopes or taking turns. The event was held for the 11th year, the interest of riders grows every year, Petr Janičata, director of the organizing association, told ČTK today. This year, 48 tractors and 64 drivers participated in the Zděchov Traktoriáda.
“Riders are increasing every year. It’s such a fun event, it’s about having fun and for people to come together and enjoy the adrenaline and atmosphere of motor sports a little differently than, for example, rally or motocross, that’s why we have tractors,” said Janičata.
Two disciplines awaited the drivers, namely pulling the Praga V3S and then the trial, i.e. driving a rugged track with bends, steep hills, descents and muddy sections. “It’s a lot about skill and what the driver can do with the tractor and what the tractor can do in the field. The trial is the most interesting for the spectators,” said Janičata. The first discipline changes every year, in previous years the drivers were faced with, for example, slalom, reversing with a siding or crossing over logs.
Tractors are divided into five categories, for example according to drive or cubic capacity, there is also an open category with special machines and a women’s category, of which seven entered this year. Among the drivers are those who drive tractors every day as farmers or miners. “There are also those here who pull out the tractor once a year for the tractor fair,” said Janičata.
The event is intended for machines of factory production. In the past, there was also a section of home-made machines. “However, the terrain is quite fragmented and demanding. There was a bit of a problem with it, it was not possible to put it together,” said Janičata.
Several thousand people visit the Tractoriad in good weather, and that was the case today. The sunny weather attracted visitors of all ages. “We really like it here, we’ve been here a few times. My son adores tractors and is completely thrilled here. What he likes most is how the tractors wade through the mud,” one of the visitors told ČTK today.
