They came for a pardon for Putin. Then Russian missiles flew over Kiev

The lifting of the arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin is the main goal of the “peacekeeping mission” of the leaders of African countries in Ukraine, says Mykhailo Podolak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky quoted by the Unian portal. Interestingly, however, some of them may have already changed their minds on the spot. During their arrival there was a rocket attack on Kiev.

“There is one issue that worries them and that is why I think they came. Trust is built in small steps:Let’s make lifting the arrest warrant for Putin issued by the ICC one of them, and that will symbolize such trust, and then let’s move on to the next points“… Of course, all other points are of no interest to anyone,” said Podolak.

The presidential adviser stressed that the only viable plan to end the war is the peace formula developed by the Ukrainian president, and the others are different variants of capitulation. He also commented on the shelling of the Ukrainian capital on the day of the delegation’s arrival.

“Missile attack on Kiev undermined the loyalty of many African countries to Russia”

– he said.

On Friday, African leaders arrived in Ukraine with a “peace mission”: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Senegalese President Macky Sall, Comoros President Azali Assoumani, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli and special envoys of Congo and Ugandan leaders – Florent Ntsiba and Ruhakana Rugunda . After talks with Zelensky, representatives of African countries are to go to St. Petersburg on Saturday for a meeting with Putin.

“After meeting and hearing from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev, we are now on our way to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to meet and hear from Russian President Vladimir Putin, in our ongoing quest to find a lasting solution to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.”

Zambia’s president tweeted.

Reuters reported on Thursday that African leaders plan to propose a suspension of the arrest warrant for Putin issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Such a measure could be mentioned in an initiative to organize negotiations to end the war. According to Reuters, the African mission intended this to be a step to “build confidence” in potential peace talks.
