They want to abolish VAR in the Premier League! Clubs will vote soon... World news

English football clubs Premier League to vote in June on the possible abolition of VAR technology from next season, and all this after the proposal of Wolverhampton, claims the BBC.

20 clubs will vote on the possible abolition of VAR at the annual meeting on June 6, and Wolverhampton has officially submitted a request to the Premier League. Wolverhampton claim that VAR was introduced in good faith but has led to “a number of unintended negative consequences which harm the relationship between fans and football”.

VAR technology was introduced in 2019 to help referees make important decisions on the pitch, but there have been a number of controversial incidents this season, the BBC reported.

“The price we pay for a small increase in accuracy goes against the spirit of our game,” Wolverhampton said in a statement.

The Premier League board said it recognizes the concerns about VAR, but fully supports the technology and will continue to work with the refereeing organization on improvements.
