The first cut should not be too short. The German Lawn Society in Bonn recommends that so-called house lawns should not be less than three centimeters long. The advantage of short cutting when caring for the lawn in spring: the blades divide and sprout again at the fork, so that the lawn becomes denser. A cut that is too deep can temporarily destroy the lawn. This removes all leaf parts and only bare stems remain. This doesn’t look nice and the lawn needs a long time to recover.
