Two deaths and 45 hospitalizations due to melons contaminated with salmonella in the USA

The states of Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and Missouri have the highest number of infected people. Minnesota also recorded two deaths. A total of 45 people also required hospitalization across the country.

Melons were sold whole and in pieces and were also used in fruit salads. They were sold in wholesale stores between October 18 and 26 then in supermarkets, including those of the Aldi brand under at least three different brands. Salmonella outbreaks have also been identified in Canada with the same strain as in the United States.
