Ukraine sends note of protest to European Commission

World news

Ukraine has sent a note of protest to the European Commission due to the possible increase in nuclear cooperation with Russia, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, Report informs via RBC-Ukraine.

“Rosatom is part of the Putin regime that supports his terrorist actions and endangers nuclear facilities,” Shmyhal said.

Ukraine expects that the preliminary decision on the implementation of Rosatom’s project to build nuclear reactors in Hungary will be reviewed.

In particular, Shmyhal raised this issue at a session on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development at the ministerial level.

He added that such steps look surreal against the backdrop of the disaster at the Kakhovska hydroelectric power station and the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister is confident that sanctions against the Russian Federation should be strengthened, particularly in such areas as nuclear energy.
