Kyiv – Ukrainian drones damaged an important steel plant in the Lipetsk region in southwestern Russia overnight, according to a Reuters source from Ukrainian intelligence. According to this source, the damage caused to the steel plant could have a long-term impact on the operation of the facility.

Such reports cannot be immediately independently verified. However, also according to the Russian Telegram channel Astra, drones damaged one building on the premises of the Novolipecký metallurgical plant (NLMK), which houses an oxygen station, and partially disrupted the operation of the ironworks. The governor of the Lipeck region previously admitted that a drone had been shot down over the industrial zone, but did not mention the damage.

Kiev does not officially claim attacks on Russian territory. But according to a Reuters source, the Ukrainian military intelligence HUR is behind the strike on the steel mills.

Last night, according to another agency source, Ukrainian forces managed to hit two oil depots in the Smolensk region west of Moscow using drones. Recently, in an effort to exert pressure on Russia, Ukraine has increasingly focused on attacks on Russian oil and industrial capacities, the agency noted.
