Crystal Cabin Awards were presented to companies in the USA for creating innovative aircraft models. The winner was the project that created a two-story interior for economy class flights. CNN writes about it.
The name of the project is Chaise Longue Economy. Designers have long been thinking about how to accommodate more passengers in the cabin so that the ride is comfortable for everyone.
The author of the Chaise Longue Economy project is 21-year-old Alejandro Nunez Vicente. The project created by him envisages placement of seats at different levels. Luggage compartments will be removed and seats will take their place. Passengers will place their luggage under the seats. The seat design also offers an adjustable backrest and headrest for added comfort.
Nunes is confident that his project will be implemented soon.
Lucas Kästner, representative of the Crystal Cabin Awards, said that although designers create innovative concepts for the economy class every year, the probability of their implementation in reality is still small.
