In the trial against Donald Trump in connection with Hush money payments to a porn actress has his former Communications Director Hope Hicks describe their point of view.

She said she was “worried, very worried” about the “Access Hollywood” video containing Trump’s sexist statements becoming known, she said on the witness stand in court in New York on Friday. The testimony, which lasted several hours, had to be interrupted once because Hicks burst into tears.

“Deny, deny, deny”

At that time, among other things, she instructed her employees to “deny, deny, deny,” Trump’s former communications director admitted, according to US media reports. In the 2005 video, Trump boasts that as a celebrity you can do anything to women, including attacking their vaginas.

Hicks also became her take on the former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen questioned, who is repeatedly portrayed as untrustworthy by the Trump defense. Hicks, 35, said she had not spoken to Trump since 2022. Hicks served as White House communications director from 2017 to 2018.

She returned as an employee in the 2020 election year, but after the election she fell out with Trump because she did not want to support his election manipulation lies.

In the proceedings – the first criminal trial against a former US president in the history of the United States – Trump is accused of, among other things, falsifying business documents. The 77-year-old, who is seeking re-election as US president in November, has pleaded not guilty.

The trial began in mid-April and, according to the court, could last up to eight weeks. If convicted, the 77-year-old faces a prison sentence of several years, which could also be suspended. Trump would also have the opportunity to appeal. Even after a possible conviction – and even in the event of a prison sentence – Trump is likely to run in the presidential election.
