Xi Jinping in France - Action on Ukraine World news

China: Xi Jinping intends to “take action with France and the entire international community to resolve the crisis” in Ukraine.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, who arrived today for an official visit to France, tells Le Figaro newspaper that he intends to “take action with France and the entire international community to resolve the crisis” in Ukraine.

“We hope that peace and stability will quickly return to Europe, and we intend to take action with France and the entire international community to find appropriate ways to resolve the crisis,” Xi wrote in an article published in Le Figaro newspaper.

“We understand the disruption caused by the Ukrainian crisis for Europeans. China is not a source of this crisis, nor does it participate in it.”

Xi asserts that he has “always played a constructive role to favor a peaceful settlement” in the war.

It recalls that “he has repeatedly called for the observance of the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, for the consideration of the legitimate security concerns of various parties and has insisted on the need to not to use nuclear weapons or start a nuclear war.”

China, he adds, “has provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid and our special envoy has made many trips to the countries involved.”

During Xi Jinping’s visit to Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron will seek to promote “reciprocity” in trade and the search for a solution to the war in Ukraine against a Chinese president who continues to express his support for Russia.

Paris wants to ensure that China, Vladimir Putin’s main ally, does not move into the phase of supporting Russia’s war effort against Kiev and that it will use the leverage it has vis-à-vis Moscow “to help resolve the conflict”. , according to the French Presidency.

President Emmanuel Macron had conveyed this same message a year ago during his own official visit to Beijing, with meager results.

After France, Xi will visit Serbia and Hungary, two countries that still maintain good relations with Moscow.
