According to NBC News, singer Lizzo is the subject of a lawsuit filed by several dance performers she worked with for poor working environment and treatment. In the official statements, the dancers alleged that Lizzo had made false allegations against them and critiqued one of the dancers’ bodies. Additionally, the performers made accusations of sexual harassment against the singer, the production company, and the group’s dance captain, Shirlene Quigley.

“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing,” the dancers’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, stated.

One of the main accusations refers to a show in Amsterdam that ended with the dancers being made to touch other nude performers. According to the suit, it is alleged that Lizzo “began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.” In addition, “Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women.” Arianna Davis also alleged that Lizzo had critiqued her weight gain after a South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival show.
As the suit continued, Arianna Davis supposedly denied touching the naked people several times before a chant led by Lizzo “grew louder and more strident, demanding a visibly uncomfortable Ms. Davis to engage with the performer.”

“Plaintiffs were aghast with how little regard Lizzo showed for the bodily autonomy of her employees and those around her, especially in the presence of many people whom she employed,” the statement continues.
