The Swede finished third in Birmingham, Alabama – and was jubilantly happy afterwards.

– I don’t like the expression that this feels like a victory for us. But I’m very happy with my podium today. It’s my first in Indycar, he says in Viaplay.

Scott McLaughlin, New Zealand, was fastest in the race over 90 laps. He took home the race ahead of Will Power, Australia.

But then it became Swedish. 25-year-old Linus Lundqvist from Tyresö, who competes for Chip Ganassi Racing, was third.

– There have been some tough first races for me… But the whole team did an absolutely fantastic job today, says Lundqvist.

It was also Swedish in fourth place where Felix Rosenqvist finished. The competition’s third Swede, Marcus Ericsson, finished in 18th place.
