This morning, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the Israeli army withdrew from the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip after its incursion into it at dawn yesterday, Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli army withdrew from Beit Hanoun after destroying a number of homes, bulldozing agricultural lands, and arresting Palestinians from a shelter center.

Palestinians who succeeded in fleeing from the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army arrested citizens, assaulted women, and opened fire on the displaced people inside shelter schools.

At dawn on Tuesday, the Israeli army penetrated the northern Gaza Strip and bombed a mosque and homes, besieged the Mahdia al-Shawa School, which shelters displaced people, arrested dozens of men and children, and forced women and girls to flee, according to witnesses.

The head of the government media office in the Gaza Strip, Salama Marouf, said on Tuesday that the Israeli army is seeking to empty the town of Beit Hanoun and the eastern region of the town of Jabalia, north of the Strip, of their residents through a military operation it has been carrying out in the two regions since last night.

In a statement, Marouf said: “In a new crime against our people, the occupation seeks to empty Beit Hanoun and the eastern region of Jabalia, north of Gaza, where the occupation army carried out a military operation and its bulldozers and tanks advanced towards the shelter centers in Beit Hanoun, and Mahdiya Al Shawa School, where hundreds of displaced people are located, was besieged. “.

He added: “The occupation army established a field investigation center behind the school and asked everyone to leave at gunpoint. The women were forced to take off their hijab, and the men were stripped of their outer clothing.”

He pointed out that the Israeli army “forced all the families in Beit Hanoun to leave and a number of young men were arrested.”
