Slovaks pay more and more for eating in restaurants. As reported by the tvnoviny.sk portal, we will not pay the most surprisingly in Bratislava. In the first place there was a change. Last year, lunches were the most expensive in Košice.

Region-by-region price overview

In the first quarter of 2024, people in the Trnava region paid the highest prices for lunch (9.60 euros). The portal informs about it based on the latest TRC index data of the company Edenred. The mentioned region also had the highest year-on-year increase in payments.

In second place is the Košice region (9.07 euros) and on the “bronze” level is the Banskobystrický region (8.88 euros).

It is followed by Žilina (EUR 8.52), Nitrian (EUR 8.30), Bratislava (EUR 8.23), Prešovský (EUR 8.20) and Trenčín Region (EUR 7.69).

“The entire expenditure on food, snacks or coffee is always included in these meal card payments,” the portal said.

“It is evident that the prices of food and meals are not falling, on the contrary. That is also why we recommend that employers, instead of the minimum meal allowance, which is set at 5.85 euros, take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the employees’ meals with the optimal amount of the meal allowance in the amount of 7.80 euros, because the quality of the meals affects the work performance and the health of the employees.” advises Lívia Bachratá, Director of Public Affairs at Edenred.

How much did we pay last year?

When we look at the summary of the entire last year, the residents of the Košice region paid the most on average (8.81 euros).

Furthermore, the order was as follows: Trnavský (8.76 euros), Prešovský (8.42 euros), Žilinský (8.40 euros), Banskobystrický (8.37 euros), Nitriansky (8.18 euros), Bratislava (8.02 EUR) and the Trenčín region (EUR 7.53).
