Asked why he chose to go again with a luxury plane on an official visit, in the context in which Romania’s economy is “crippling” and while the members of the Executive they came with an airliner, Klaus Iohannis answered: “First of all, Romania’s economy is not crippled, but continues to grow.” I don’t think we can make a connection between these two.

According to the Boarding Pass, Iohannis took off from Sibiu with the private luxury plane with which he went to the Arab Emirates and the African tour, a Gulfstream G550 rented from Global Jet. The rest of his delegation went separately with a line race.
Foreign trips in 2023 worth 8 million euros
Klaus Iohannis went on tour in Africa, South America and Asia in 2023, exhausting the money for foreign trips since June.
The government supplemented its funds with 1.5 million euros last year. In 2022, Iohannis made 3.3 million euros of foreign trips. In 2023, Iohannis visited Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Brazil, Argentina and others, plus President Iohannis’ 10-day tour of Africa in November 2023. All these trips cost more than 8 million euro.
In some trips, the private plane used by the president made a stopover in Sibiu, where the president’s wife lives, who accompanies him on official trips.
